Background

Humans are destroying habitats, polluting areas, and hunting animals to extinction. Many animals are dying and becoming extinct. Humans are to blame, developers, farmers and just everyday people are affecting these animals. Now over 5000 animals are on the endangered species list, something must be done.

Location

All over Australia for example the Great Barrier Reef, animals are being killed directly or indirectly by human activity. Some examples of these animals are the Great Bilby is found in the Great sandy Desert, which is becoming more and more populated everyday. The Australian sea lion which lives on the west and south coast of Australia, these huge coastlines are very popular to the locals and atract many tourists.

Developement

In recent years the number of endangered species has gone up for example, in 2008 Rhino poaching doubled and subspecies of the siberian tiger have become extinct. Australia's famous Tasmanian Tiger became extinct when the last one finally died in 1936 at hobart zoo. The destruction of the animals habitats are rapidly increasing, but it didn'y always be this way. People need to band together and help stop this madness!

Timeline
*1936 Tasmanian Tiger became extinct
*1973 Endangered species act was created to protect these animals
*2008 Rhino poaching doubled

Impact

Endangered species effects not only us but the future generations because if these animals become extinct no one will be able to study and enjoy these animals. These animals are becoming extinct because of poaching, pollution, and habitat destruction. Some people (poachers) are actually making money to kill these animals. When these animals become extinct the government will be to blame and people will be very angry with the government.

Concern list
1.There is about 5,000 endangered species on the edge of extinction.
2. If these species become extinct, no one will be able to enjoy their beauty.
3.Scientists and others will not be able to fully understand and study these animal when extinct, therefor they will not fully understand our very own planet.

Future

http://www.earthsendangered.com/continent.asp?ID=4

If nothing is done than more and more animals will become extinct like the Tasmanian Tiger. Organizations such as the national wildlife federation and the wildlife conservation society are studying these animals and taking steps like creating a national perserves to help these animals.

Big Picture

In Australia 40% of the countries forests have been cleared causing habitats to be lost. Humans have a direct and indirect effect on these animals. For example humans have an indirect effect on the central rock rat. Settler's pets such as cats are eating them and horses that overgraze are taking all their food. This category of endangered species falls under human-environment interactions because humans are dangering these animals to the point of extinct.Humans are messing up the natural environment. Endangerted species is exactly what the theme human-environment interactions is stating. people can see from my topic what we are doing to these animals and nthen compare it to what ever you want.
